CEWA is a joint venture between Coastal Environments, Inc. and Wessex Archaeology, Ltd., created specifically to provide expert advice and cultural heritage permitting services to clients in the US offshore renewables market.
Coastal Environments, Inc., (CEI) is a highly respected US veteran-owned small business which has been providing expert guidance on submerged paleolandscapes and submerged cultural resources since 1975. Specializing in cultural resource management using an interdisciplinary approach, our diverse clientele includes private sector companies, engineering firms, energy developers, state agencies, and federal agencies, especially the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) and its predecessor the Minerals Management Service (MMS).
Wessex Archaeology is the clear market leader in the British offshore heritage sector, having supplied archaeological services for over 90% of all the UK’s offshore windfarm schemes, and provided essential input into the development of the UK’s offshore regulatory system over the last 15 years. Wessex has extensive experience at all stages of offshore and nearshore development schemes, from pre-planning and scoping through to post-construction monitoring.
Together as CEWA, we bring together home-grown US expertise, European experience, and a marine geophysical team with an unrivalled specialist capacity.
This large capacity is vital to ensure that the huge geophysical datasets produced by offshore renewable schemes can be accurately and efficiently interrogated in the timeframe required to ensure smooth and rapid progress through the permitting system.
